It'd been a long night for the two of them thus far, trekking through the forest in search of an animal that had run off with a festival decoration earlier in the day. Sadly the little furry party favor thief had vanished into the brush, not to be found even hours later despite Numi's nose being pressed to the ground in search. Taiga would sigh and rub at the back of his head; looking at the same path he'd now come across three times in the past hour as they tried to find their way back to the festivities. He hadn't wanted to admit they were lost, not in the least buuuut....they were. An ear would flick backwards as Numi's stomach growled loudly, a music that'd been serenading his ears for longer than the great steed was willing to bear. Letting out a whiny groan the onyx would shove her face into his back and push him forwards, her grumbles continuing as he reached back to run his fingers through her mane in comfort. "I know, I know...sorry, that furry little bugger got away from us." offered apologetically. Now he was wishing he had brought a better stock of dried up meats with them-but it'd been a spur of the moment chase gone wrong so far.

Taiga was be all but set on setting up a campfire for the night when Numi's demeanor changed. The dark furred shi's head raising to full height and her ears swiveled upwards and alert. Her nose was taking in deep inhales, it not being long before she would start walking away as if following a smell. Puzzled, Taiga would follow her, watching as the Shi'vali quickened her pace and doing well to keep up with her trotting onwards. Drawing closer and closer to the source of interest, the cat man would start catching scent of what Numi had locked onto. A strange...almost sickly sweet smell, almost as if someone had burned a pile of candy filtered through the air, drawing in the rider and mount as if moths to the flame. As the two rounded over a hill, a small beaten up little shack would come in to view..this appearing to be where the smell was emanating from. Taiga was hesitant, but Numi's stomach was ruling over any and all other decisions, the shi'vali loping down over the hill and toward the little home, her rider cursing under his breath but hastily following after her. "Wait, wait.." He'd mutter quietly, grabbing hold of her reins and instructing the antsily pacing shi'vali to stay back while he got a look at it. Carefully he would peek through a musty window, coated in old grease and age...with...burn marks on the inside? There appeared to be no one inside that he could see through the window, but a thin trail of smoke was exiting thought the various small holes in the little building. At this point there was more concern than worry, Taiga taking to knocking loudly on the door of the home and calling out for anyone inside. "Hello? Hello! Is anyone in there? There's an awful lot of smoke coming out of here so I'm hoping if anyone's around that none of you are hurt." A few good minutes of nothing had cemented his decision, the man waving over Numi and instructing her to take the door down.

She'd been waiting for this fairly eagerly, the shi'vali having no hesitation in slamming a gigantic paw into that door and taking it off of the hinges like it was nothing. In seconds she'd squeeze herself in and go right for a large, bubbled over cauldron in the middle of the room. Practically drooling at the wonderful smells coming from within. Before he could rightly stop her, she'd shoved her head into the thing and was chomping away at the contents.

He hadn't gotten a second to look around before he had to run after his mount, pulling at her to get her head out of that cauldron before it got stuck, or she ate something she shouldn't. A slight shiver of disgust would go up his spine as he lay hand on the edge of the pot to attempt prying Numi's face out of it, the man having to pause and pull his hand away. Strings of sticky pink substance following his hand upwards as he moved it away. Making a face at it, he would put it up to his face and smell it; eyes going a little wide at the realization that dawned upon him. It was candy! Pink, sticky sweet candy...that was all over his hand and not looking to go away any time soon. With nothing better to do with it, he'd start licking it away, baffled by the variety of tastes he was getting. This concoction was at least 3 different kinds of candies mixed together...is that what had happened in here? Was someone trying to make a truly special treat for the festivities? If that was right, then what in the world happened to make them abandon it? Something about this had been a little explosive, but now the mixture seemed to be just fine. That...was a real head scratcher to put it lightly. Either way, his shi'vali had stuck her head into their pot of treats, so it was only right to stick around and see if the mixture was truly abandoned. If not..he'd...er...help them replace it somehow. A happy Numi had finally had her fill, coming out of that cauldron with a face so coated in pink, you'd think she was pink instead of onyx. Utterly covered in pink sticky candy. He'd laugh to himself at the sight, but secretly dread the idea of bathing the shi. Once she caught sight of all that in her mane, he knew it'd be time for a fit. For now though, the two of them could enjoy some candy and wait for the owner to come back for a proper apology.
